Who We Are

Peak Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Rehab has been a leader in outpatient physical therapy services in South Florida since it first opened its doors in 2010. With nearly 10 years of proven success, we continue to put the patient first. We are dedicated to providing friendly, compassionate, professional and highly skilled treatment to the individual. Our aim is to help our patients reduce pain, improve mobility. restore function and regain quality of life. We want our patients to feel normal again.

How Do I Get Ready For My First Visit ?

At Peak Performance, preparation is key. Here are a few tips to get you ready for your first visit.

  • First, contact the one of our two locations that suits you best.
  • Bring your filled out intake forms, physical therapy prescrition, ID and insurance card
  • Please wear loose fitting clothes
  • Be aware that the injured area will need to be exposed during the evaluation

  • Alex Solano

    Clinical Director

    Alex Solano gets people moving, active and feeling young again, even after years of aches and pains. He started working with high school athletes in 2002 and then moved on to work with Division I athletes while attending California State University, Long Beach. After graduating with a Bachelor’s in Science in Athletic Training in 2006 he moved to Miami to attend Florida International University where he earned a Doctorate degree in 2009. His specialty has always been in orthopedics and sports medicine. He has extensive training in manual therapy where he has learned techniques to help identify and treat specific tissues so that the patient can move and feel better. He enjoys working with people that have a desire to get better so that they do not have to depend on a lifetime of pain pills or lose their independence. He understands that injuries can lead to functional limitations and works with patients in setting specific goals so that they create an individual plan to get better. He enjoys working with people that have undergone surgery and wants to help them restore their ability to move and become stronger again.

    A native resident of South Florida, Demond attended Dillard High School where he played football and was involved in National Honor Society activities. In 1996, after graduating from high school, Demond continued his education at Maryville College. While attending college he worked as a physical therapy aide under the supervision of Joe Black at Maryville Physical Therapy/ Sports Medicine. This is where Demond developed his interest in physical therapy/sports medicine. Upon completion of his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education in 2000, Demond returned to South Florida and began working as a physical therapy aide at Coral Springs Medical Center. He graduated from Broward Community College PTA program in 2004 at the top of his graduating class. He then began working as a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant), and to promote better outcomes for his patients he desired to strengthen his manual skills so he completed training as a massage therapist at the American Institute of Massage Therapy. Demond has been involved in the field of physical therapy for more than 20 years and massage therapy for 13 years and he believes his diverse training and experience has allowed him to provide the most positive outcome for his patients. In his free time, Demond enjoys weight training and spending time with his family. In 2019, Demond hit the 5 year mark of being a valuable member of the Peak Performance team.

  • Lucia Cortes

    Born and raised in Miami-Dade, Lucia graduated from Felix Varela high school in 2010. From there, she received a scholarship to play collegiate soccer in Washington Adventist University in Maryland. She pursued her B.S. in health/fitness management in 2014 and was a student athletic trainer for 3 years. With the joy and passion treating athletic injuries, her professor gave her the idea of working in the Physical Therapy realm. And that’s exactly what she did! She received her license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2017 from Miami Dade College. Working with many types of conditions and illnesses have given Lucia a variety of learning experiences allowing her to expand her skills. She is certified in kinesiology taping and has learned manual techniques which benefit all types of people. She enjoys traveling, competing in triathlons, playing indoor soccer and trying new types of food.
